Visions for the Future

On account of the Port of New Orleans and Sunrise Foods International’s effort to develop a grain terminal and industrial complex in the heart of our residential community, we spend a lot of time talking about what we don’t want in our neighborhood. It’s important that we don’t let this overshadow a broader conversation about potential uses for the space around Alabo Street Wharf that could actually benefit the people who live here.

Below is one vision for a potential use for this space. Note that this proposal was developed based on the perspectives of a small number of participants, and is not to be interpreted as an official proposal put forward on behalf of the community as a whole. Instead, it is simply one vision for how this space could be reimagined in a manner that supported the well being of all residents.
